What’s seventeen, almost as fast as a speeding bullet, and going to semi-state this weekend?  Sam Gabbard! Sam will represent South Dearborn High School this Saturday, October 21st at the IHSAA Cross Country Semi-State Tournament.  He qualified by earning 11th place in the 5K race at the regional competition last weekend.

Sam, a senior,  stated, “I’m excited about this weekend.  My goal was to make it to semi-state this year, because I missed it by one spot last year. There will be some tough competition against runners like Trevor Levi (Rising Sun), Andrew White (East Central), and Adam Moster (Batesville).”  But Sam is ready to give it his best shot!

Head coach Jeremy Baney said of Sam, “Sam did a great deal over the summer to prepare for his senior season–logging just over 500 miles. As a result of that sacrifice, good things happened: All-EIAC, All-Sectional, and All-Regional. At Regional, he ran the 19th fastest time in school history. He runs with a lot of guts, and we are all very proud of his accomplishments.”

The semi-state compeition will take place at Shelbyville High School and the public is welcome to attend.
